Ladies and gents, allow me to introduce you to my new bike! This is the Cadillac of bicycles in the village, let me tell you. I keep him locked up tight at night. I’m sure we’ll have many adventures together.
This is an example of the type of groceries you can get at a more “western” grocery store. Cold cereal, canned tuna, strawberry jam, juice, and strawberry yogurt. Fun packaging, yes?
And then this is the shopping that is just 1km from my apartment. Fruits, veggies, spices, and herbs! You can also pick out your own live chicken and they’ll slaughter it right in front of you – and even send it home with you freshly plucked. I know I’ll NEVER have the courage to buy my meat in the village. This is definitely a new experience!
This is my new friend Carrie. She and her husband Jacob just arrived yesterday from their home in Texas. We’re standing in front of their apartment building (very similar to mine). We’d just returned from our first shopping excursion!
And here are the Rubirosas. Daniel is the one who I’ll be replacing when they move back to United States for a few months and then on to western China where they’ll be starting a coffee shop.

I love all the pictures! It sounds like things are going really well and I’m immensely proud of you for making it to work on your bike, even if you still had your dalmatian slippers on. I miss you and hope all of your adventures continue to go well
